A birth preparation visit is a PT visit with specific emphasis on educating you and your support system on how to stay strong through pregnancy, prepare for labor/delivery and educate you on what to expect early postpartum. We collaborate together to address your specific goals and provide you the education to help you feel empowered and knowledgeable moving into a new season of life! These visits can be in home or virtual and are a great way to establish care with Dr. Margaret so that she can follow-up with you for your postpartum needs.
We recommend starting care with Dr. Margaret as early as 2-3 weeks postpartum! In this first visit postpartum, she will assess your healing from birth including assessment of any infection risk, scar healing and begin slow, gentle return to exercise and movement. There is no reason to wait for 6 weeks to start PT if you are in pain or are ready to be more active. Dr. Margaret loves to help you during this new time!
A pelvic exam can include both external exam and an internal exam, as part of a comprehensive treatment plan for physical therapy. The pelvic exam helps to determine areas of weakness and/or tension and can help assess difficulties with coordination of muscles. While both parts can be helpful for a treatment plan, they are not absolutely necessary for treatment and you will be asked for consent before and during the examination. Additionally, if you do not feel comfortable with the exam, Dr. Margaret can coach you through how to assess yourself in the comfort of your home before/after a session.
Dr. Margaret offers both evaluations and treatment sessions virtually to individuals in the Texas. We are able to get great results through teletherapy by coaching you, watching you move in your home and by partnering with you to take an active role in your healing. Just like an in-home visit, teletherapy appointments are personalized for you and your unique goals.
Teletherapy appointments are excellent options for anyone but especially individuals with busy schedules or individuals who are outside of Dr. Margaret's driving distance.
You will be provided a link and a calendar reminder to access your HIPAA- compliant, personal, teletherapy appointment at the time of the appointment! All we ask is that you use a laptop or cellphone and space to move around for us to coach you through your program.
